Salvation Saturday
This mix is the last day of the week in this "week-long" mix series. Similar to the others, there's a a variety of styles of house music, warm and funky, deep and melodic and a couple bangers. Hopefully this mix can be a source or means of being saved from harm, ruin, or loss on this Salvation Saturday!

Strange Spaces and Comfortable Places

The inspiration for this mix comes from an artist I recently discovered, Nicholas Jaar. His music is strange yet enthralling, weird yet beautiful and nothing quite like I've heard. Therefore, ten of the twenty-five tracks in this mix were produced by the man himself. I've attempted to expand on this experimental vibe and take you through many Strange Spaces and Comfortable Places. I would love to hear some feedback on this, thanks for listening!

This is a follow up to the dreamy downtempo mix I did last year called Unconditional Happiness. This edition features Thievery Corporation, Emancipator, Telepopmusik, Nujabes, Psychemagik, Neighbour and a whole splatter of other beautiful music.
Hopefully today, and everyday, you find your Ideal Conditions.

The Squirt Special

The first time I dropped the "L-Bomb" on Jess I also recorded this mix for her. Until now I haven't shared it with anyone, but today being her birthday I thought it would be a good time. It's got a few slow jams, some folk, a couple oldies, and finishes up with a true classic that we both really dig.
Soundcloud won't let me put this one up, so you can either listen to it straight off mixcloud, or download it directly by clicking right here.

Moody Monday

I had a few days off after returning home from Burning Man so I had a chance to sneak this mix in. In June I put out a mix called Sunny Sunday.
This is the end of summer sequel Moody Monday. And after a few listens it definitely feels pretty moody the way it flows throughs many different styles and emotions. With so much good music coming out these days I had to make it an hour and a half long even after cutting a bunch of other great tracks. These moody skies were found at sunrise over Cheakamus Lake last summer.
All of my previous mixes, some of which aren't on soundcloud can be found on this blog below.

Sunny Sunday

Well finally on this Sunny Sunday, I bring you my first mix since I got back form my travels in Central America. I took the photo above of Jess near San Juan Del Sur, Nicaragua. As for the music, it's a pretty solid dose of laid-back house music to help you bring on the Summer!
Also coming very soon is the follow up to Sax Appeal, and a straight up Disco mix. Enjoy, and leave me some comments if you dig it.

Lounge Lizard
This mix was done as a promo mix for a gig at a lounge in town. Well the gig never happened, but I did have fun learning more about and mixing a different style of music: loungey deep-house. I find deep house can be quite boring sometimes so I tried to pick songs that have a bit more to them while still keeping that deeper edge. Not really meant for the dancefloor, but maybe more background music for other tasks or for a long drive home from a festival (the first time I played this for friends was our last hour driving home from Bushwacked Festival).

Mr. Dressup
I've never played at the peak hours of a big party so for this mix I thought I'd do exactly that... put together a mix of bangers that would hopefully rock the dance floor in the middle of the night.
As for the title of the mix "Mr. Dressup", for those that don't know Mr. Dressup was a man in a children's TV show, and every episode he would walk over to his tickle trunk, tickle it as he walked around it, and then pull out a costume. This is why we call our party-costume boxes "tickle trunks" , or in some cases even "tickle closet". So this mix goes out to my homey Mr. Dressup, an inspiration to us all to keep those tickle trunks going all your life and never stop dressing up!
As well, I plan on putting together a jazzy downtempo morning mix, and a groovy afternoon mix in time for those relaxing summer days that are sure to come. Thanks for listening!

Keep the Change You Filthy Animal
Wow I am stoked to finally get this mix recorded this afternoon. It's something I've been working on for a while, but never found the time to finish it until today. This one like a lot of my past mixes follows a concept rather than a genre, and that concept is some 1940's influenced Electro Swing! Don't know what that is? Neither did I until recently, but this should give you a pretty good idea.
The way I see it, when the bad ass gangsters of the 1940's weren't busy with organized crime and shopping for new top hats, they were likely at some warehouse rave getting down and dirty to a set like this. Enjoy! Comments much appreciated.

Newtimers - January Love
It's been a while since I posted anything on this blog, but I am not ready to let it die just yet, here a couple tracks you might dig a this time of year...
With only 2 days left of January I better squeeze this in. January Love by Newtimers starts out a bit cheesy but is catchy and smooth enough to get me nodding my head to this jam.

And in case you missed it last winter, a progressive breaks track by Digital Witchcraft called Snowday really does feel like a perfect track to watch through the window as fat snowflakes fall down. Check out Digital Witchcraft's small discography for a few more similar tracks.

And here is one more for a free download. I just found this one a few minutes ago. Really nice chill vibes to this one from the amazing Emancipator, always making top-notch tunes.

Groove Pancakes for Supper
This is the final instalment of my Groove Meals mix series. First there was Groove Cereal for Breakfast then came Groove Sandwich for Lunch and now I present you Groove Pancakes for Supper And yes, as a kid I only ate pancakes for supper.
The Groovy Meals mixes have no real specific genre, just whatever I deemed groovy enough to make the cut, which has included some funk, soul, nu-jazz, reggae, hip-hop, disco, breaks and house. Essentially they are meant to be something you can just nod your head to and not feel like you need to be at a crazy party. This final mix picks up just enough to send you into your evening!

The Foals
Yesterday was my last day of landscaping for the year and it was a pretty awesome day. The sun was mostly out the crew had plenty of laughs. I came home wanting to hear something mellow and unelectronic and so I had my first full listen of the album Total Life Forever by Foals. For the most it's an upbeat but relaxing inde-rock album which I throughly enjoy. But I must say, upon searching for photos of the band somehow I wasn't surprised that every band member has the hair-pushed-sidways-across the-face hair do. Maybe that's how they decided who would be in the band in the first place? Anyways, check out the title track from the album.
Here's a download of the second track on the album, perhaps my favorite:

Chrome Sparks
Sometimes bands names mean nothing, and sometimes, you just have a feeling that you wanna hear what the band or producer has to offer just by the name it has chosen for itself. "Chrome Sparks" I thought, "Must be some super dreamy pop music" and I was right. Listen to the stand out track below on soundcloud, and if you want you can purchase (for free) his entire 7 track release form the link below. Just name your price.
